New Year’s Resolution: Become a programmer in 2022

careerjobprogrammingcoding bootcampCareer

Thinking about New Year’s Resolutions? What about becoming a programmer and changing your life? It is possible! Our courses last about 7 months and most of our graduates land their first job shortly after. Sounds good? With the new year get yourself both a steady salary and work on interesting projects.

Are you happy with your current job? Or maybe you are wondering every day what you are still doing there? Is the work much below your competence and do you strongly feel inside that you can do better? Are you unhappy with your salary? Are you afraid about your future because of the growing costs of living?

THEN MAYBE THIS IS FINALLY THE RIGHT MOMENT TO ENROL ON A PROGRAMMING COURSE?

WHY HAVEN’T YOU DECIDED YET?

What are you afraid of? Of not having a clue about software development? Most of the people who start our courses have had these thoughts. Our graduates come from many different backgrounds - we taught a former geologist, soldier, waitress, paramedic, musician … and many more and helped them in their career switch. They too were not sure in the first place, yet still decided to try and succeed.

Coming up with something that you’ll stick to can be exhausting and draining, but not when you have a plan of action. We are here to help you in achieving your goals. Coders Lab emphasises practical knowledge to help people in quick career change and personal development. To ensure their success, we hire experienced developers with a passion for coding and gear our students in the best tools on the market for remote learning.

MAYBE IT’S ABOUT THE PRICE?

Do you think that the price for coding bootcamps is quite high? And why should you pay for something that may be available online for free? Well, we’re here to explain:

During a teacher-guided course, you have everything laid out, you get the filtered content, condensed, arranged in such a way as to transfer knowledge most effectively. As a self-taught person, you do not have the luxury of knowing where it is best to start. Self-learning is much more time-consuming than you think. Be realistic - is self-study for you at all? Are you actually able to stay focused and sit on the tasks for e.g. 4 hours a day without getting beaten up? Are you sure you won't give up when discouraged by the difficulty of the tasks? Isn't it better to be able to get prompts in difficult moments?

The salaries in the IT industry are high. Did you know that the average salary of a programmer (including junior programmers) often exceeds the national average? If you are worried that you will throw your savings at a very risky game then stop thinking this way. Consider a bootcamp as an investment. You have to calculate if the money you invest will return over time and how quickly it will happen.

If you wonder how to do it then, read this article - we have an easy calculation solution for you to know if your bootcamp is worth it.

SO HOW MUCH WILL YOU EARN IN YOUR FIRST IT JOB?

Your salary will depend on:

  • the chosen technology you(front end, back end, tester)
  • the company you will work for (corporation, software house, marketing agency, etc.)
  • the chosen form of employment(B2B, contract of mandate, contract of specific work)

Generally, after graduating from a junior-level course, you can expect between 23,500 - 48,000 euros gross. You will earn more after back-end courses as opposed to front-end courses. A higher salary and more standardized remuneration system will be provided by a large company or corporation in contrast to a small software house.

WHAT’S MORE TO EXPECT?

The sooner you start the better, as you will start building your developer’s portfolio and experience. The IT industry is very lucrative. If you've been unsure whether it's worth switching to IT, this data will clear up your most important doubts.

Estimated annual salary:

  • Mid Developer's annual salary 30 500 - 60 000 euros
  • Senior Developer annual salary 34 000 - 75 000 euros
  • Technical Lead annual salary 55 000 - 100 000 euros

“THE MAN WHO SAYS HE CAN AND THE ONE WHO SAYS HE CAN’T ARE BOTH RIGHT.”

Our graduate, Martha, who has been working in gastronomy and had no clue about coding says:

“I am currently working as a software developer for the fourth largest transportation company in the world. After the course, I found a job in 1,5 month.

I know many people who are afraid to sign up for such a course, they have the attitude of "Me a software developer? I'm sure I can't do it!", and I believe that everyone is capable of learning to code - it's just a matter of a little hard work and believing in yourself.

Now my life is much more interesting, it has changed for the better. I can develop myself in my work, I can set new goals in my work and achieve them. There is no more such boring repetitiveness in my life and I am a much happier person.

I think that going on the course was definitely the best decision in my life.”

Make some reasonable, responsible resolutions to bring your-2022-self into a better place than the 2021-self has been.
