How would you describe the current state of the IT market in Romania?
Right now, the IT market here in Romania still shows growth, even though it is slightly slower than in the last years. There is still plenty of demand for technical talent, and global companies want to expand or create new development teams here. In recent years, Romania has no longer been a &ldquo;cheap alternative&rdquo; for foreign software companies. Instead, it transitioned into being a reliable and qualitative partner. Everyone knows that here you&rsquo;ll find well-prepared developers, at a fair price based on their skills, with good English and lightning-fast internet.&nbsp;&nbsp;
What are the most in-demand programming languages and technologies in the Romanian IT market right now? How are you addressing them in your Coders Lab Romania training curriculum?
As in the rest of the world, JavaScript seems to be the most in-demand programming language. Software development companies have an increased demand for it. This also transitioned to the aspiring developers, who mostly ask for JS courses. That is why we&rsquo;ve prepared a complete bootcamp for JS students, learning and practicing everything from basic HTML &amp; CSS to JS&rsquo;s React framework.&nbsp;
Of course, there is also high demand for backend languages, and here, Python seems to be the new king. In Romania, PHP was very popular for a period of time, but it seems things are shifting. Same as for all technologies, our Python course starts from the basics, up to learning advanced Django, the most used Python framework. We even teach a bit of JS here so that future developers will also build their new applications' interfaces.&nbsp;&nbsp;
What kind of job opportunities are available for IT professionals in Romania, and how have they evolved in recent years?
Romania is a complete hub for software development. There are job opportunities for programming in most languages, testing (manual and automated), project management, business analysis, UX/UI, and so on. There has definitely been an evolution in recent years, in terms of growing demand, for more senior roles, but also salaries have had a pretty steep growth as well. Software companies now know that they can trust Romania as a technical talent provider, which can be seen in all statistics.
How do you think the IT market in Romania compares to other European countries?
Briefly comparing Romania with other eastern-European countries, I&rsquo;ll repeat it, we are not that cheap anymore:) The IT salaries have increased, and quality has also gone up. West and North European countries are intensely investing in technical talent in Romania and building / expanding development teams here. Romanian developers learned how to work with other cultures and quickly adapted to new clients.&nbsp;
How is your IT academy helping to address the skills gap in the Romanian IT market?
This is one of our main goals and why we started to teach IT courses. We see a yearly growing technical talent gap between 2000 and 5000 jobs, out of which a bit less than half is for junior developers. Nowadays, junior talent has a growing demand as companies realize that less experienced developers can also do good work and quickly develop themselves, starting from a lower salary. At Coders Lab, we&rsquo;re constantly building new partnerships with software development companies to understand their needs and provide them with course graduates looking for new IT careers.&nbsp;
Can you discuss any unique challenges or opportunities that the Romanian IT market presents compared to other markets?
In Romania, we&rsquo;ve always had the challenge of working with the public sector and making people realize the importance of education and continuous learning. But at the same time, we have many unique opportunities: well-prepared technical talent with a very good level of English which means they can work and perform in any global company. An excellent internet speed and beautiful places where one can organize an excellent setup for working remotely. Working in IT has become an &ldquo;archetype&rdquo; here: people immediately see you as an intelligent, rich person with lots of freedom:) But this depends a lot on how you set up your career path.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
How are companies in Romania adapting to the latest trends and technologies in the IT industry, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things?
We&rsquo;re adapting to new trends and technologies automatically and immediately, mainly because a large percentage of the software being done in Romania is exported. Global companies are adapting their needs, and we&rsquo;re adapting our offer to match their needs. That is why we&rsquo;re always up-to-date and even one step ahead sometimes.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
How do you see the future of the IT market in Romania evolving in the next 5-10 years?
It will continue to grow at a slower but steady pace. It will adapt to global trends, and we&rsquo;ll also see more Romanian-based tech startups and unicorns. If AI rules supreme, we&rsquo;ll also be there to help it.&nbsp;
What advice would you give to companies thinking about improving their digital skills?
I see two types of companies here: IT and non-IT. For IT companies, I would advise them not to use mid-senior employees for training the juniors. It is far more efficient to outsource this to an IT academy that can get your junior employee to the right level using your technologies and products.&nbsp;
For non-IT companies that most likely work with outsourced software companies, my advice will be to start building an in-house team. It can be as small as 2 people, but this would give them a bit more understanding and control over their website, application, etc. They can identify current employees with this IT drive, and we&rsquo;ll train them.

The number of IoT sensor devices is growing every year, and experts estimate that each of us will own more than a dozen such devices in less than ten years. Today, we can use a smartphone to turn on the vacuum cleaner or answer the phone with a watch. This is not only making life easier for users, but also a development in terms of software, which equates to increased workloads and the opening of new vacancies. All of this also comes with the risk of information leakage or phishing, so it will also affect the aforementioned investments in cybersecurity investments.
5. META-WORLD
What is the meta-world (also called metaversum)? Why has it been identified as an IT trend for 2023? The term was first used in 1992 by Neal Stephenson in his science fiction novel "Blizzard." The author describes the metaverse as a virtual world parallel to the real one. The originator of the development of the modern meta-world was the company Meta (formerly Facebook). In 2021, Meta created its metaverse called Horizon Worlds. Unfortunately, the investment in the development of the digital world has brought the company huge losses so far, but in 2023 Meta representatives proclaim that funding for the project will not be stopped.
To date, the metaverse has no established definition. It commonly functions as a shared virtual environment of multiple 3D worlds and the intersection of the real world and the online world. In the metaverse, life is lived through avatars who interact with each other and play social roles as in the real world.
How are companies taking advantage of this technology? More and more employers are investing in extended digital environments based on the metaverse - they are creating a meta-world in the e-commerce area, for example, which allows them to improve products, work on a better brand image or connect with consumers. The industrial metaverse is one of the greatest hopes of the industry and so-called Industry 5.0. Applications are numerous, ranging from capturing and digitizing the real world, understanding and enriching data in virtual environments, or achieving sustainable goals while optimizing costs.
It is estimated that 5G technology will revolutionize our lives and work. Artificial intelligence, along with advances in natural language processing and machine learning, will become commonplace. This makes IT workers aware that their role is also changing rapidly. It obliges them to take an even broader view of the future and keep abreast of emerging technologies. Expanding their knowledge and improving their skills will not just come from employees' desire and motivation but from necessity. All to acquire the competencies of the future and respond to the needs of the labor market.

<h4>Ensure continued and continuous development - otherwise, you may fall out of technology.</h4>
The IT industry has always been a market of rapidly changing competencies. Libraries, frameworks, and entire technologies are changing. That's why my main advice to anyone involved in IT is to keep your hand on the pulse constantly. It's worth taking an interest in what's hot now and what changes are taking place in technology and software development. That way, you won't fall out of the loop.
<h4>Networking is becoming increasingly critical - and I mean &ldquo;live&rdquo; networking.</h4>
More and more often, I see examples of senior coders getting exciting job offers. However, many of these opportunities would not have come up if it wasn&rsquo;t for networking. Due to networking (and face-to-face - I don't believe too much in online networking), we can get all sorts of opportunities that we would otherwise miss. At the same time, we can present ourselves as human beings and expose our character a little bit so that we are evaluated not only from the perspective of our technical skills. I encourage everyone to attend various meetups, conferences, etc.
<h4>Take care of work-life balance - especially if you work from home.</h4>
Recent years have not been easy for anyone (although the IT sector turned out to be rather bulletproof in times of crisis). Many people have moved from their offices to their homes. I highly recommend managing your work-life balance if this was also your case. After almost two years of working remotely, I see more burnout among my colleagues than after a dozen years in the office. Let&rsquo;s take care of our mental hygiene at work, especially at home offices.&nbsp;
<h4>Supplement your skills with soft skills and business skills.</h4>
It is worthwhile to complement technical skills, i.e., knowledge of languages, libraries, and frameworks, with soft ones. Your superiors will appreciate it if, instead of blindly following some guidelines, you raise a red flag if some functionality does not make much sense. Therefore, I recommend getting familiar with your industry and understanding its needs. In addition, it is worth understanding what the life cycle of the product you are working on looks like, how data for analysis is obtained, etc. This will enable us to create better and better systems.

WHAT IS CHAT GPT ALL ABOUT?
The idea of Chat is not new - its basis is the latest version of the GPT-3 algorithm (the acronym comes from the words Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3), which automatically completes text based on the prompts it receives.
GPT-3 is an autoregressive model, that is, one that refines itself without human input. In practice, it searches massive databases for content that best answers the questions asked. In short, it reads with understanding better than other software running on a similar mechanism.
THE HUMAN FACE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Since GPT Chat was made available to a broader audience, more than a million users have created an account. Why has it suddenly become so popular? One of its new developments is to have a dialogue-like conversation using natural phrases. Chat makes complete sentences and responses in several threads, and its thoughts are not broken off. It provides information to queries on various topics: cooking, instructions, programming examples, or writing fairy tales. This is all due to "training" with human speech.
It also has the advantage of responding dynamically - it is programmed to use its algorithm to provide a complete answer rather than quizzing the user for a broader analysis. Previous GPT-3-based applications were designed so that it was the user who triggered interactions, while the current Chat starts those interactions itself.
However, it is not a perfect tool. Social media has been flooded with screenshots of the most incredible, weirdest, or awkward AI conversations. To date, most people use Chat GPT to make someone laugh, satisfy a curiosity or share an unheard-of, most creative story.
CAN AI BE TRUSTED?
While many will agree that Chat GPT stands out for its excellent reliability of the information, it should not be trusted 100%. Users have already caught several critical flaws in the Chat's performance. Here are some of them:
<ul>
<li>It does not provide the source of information.</li>
<li>It's harder to get an answer to a complicated question (it answers more precisely when the questions are simple, such as when someone famous was born).</li>
<li>It often answers incorrectly (Stack Overflow, a popular forum for developers, has temporarily blocked Chat GPT-generated answers due to repeated incorrect answers).</li>
<li>It is pretty good at coding but makes computational mistakes, such as failing to handle fundamental algebra problems.</li>
<li>It requires significant computing power to run, making it challenging to implement in some environments.</li>
</ul>
However, in the face of the various tasks it has been tasked with, it accomplishes most of them. It is undoubtedly helpful for scientific/scientific questions; for example, it can support a novice programmer in writing simple code.
WILL GPT CHAT DEPRIVE PROGRAMMERS OF JOBS?
The more advanced artificial intelligence is, the more human-like it will seem, but GPT Chat does not live up to this expectation. During a conversation, Chat GPT insists it is not human and has no thoughts, feelings, or emotions. It says bluntly, "[...] I have no physical form or consciousness [...] My knowledge is limited to the text I was trained on... I am here to help in the best way possible, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them." Thus, it is not in a position to bail someone out of his professional duties. Using its prompts without understanding the generated code will not <a href="https://coderslab.com/en/blog/computer-science-degree-or-a-coding-bootcamp-which-it-education-path-to-choose">make one a programmer</a>. This is equivalent to the fact that it will not replace a human being, but it will help him improve a program or application or catch bugs faster than previously possible.
